Message from the Director, Drew Strobel:

“To ensure the opportunity for women to access and receive treatment and engage in recovery, Women for PASEO implements a myriad of services and interventions to improve lives in one of the most underserved and marginalized populations in Chicago. Through community outreach to women in numerous diverse settings as well as testing and counseling services, we strive to provide a safety net for those who are in most dire need of a helping hand.”

Women for PASEO (Promoting Actions that Support Recovery through Services and Outreach) targets Latina, African American and transgender women (18 years and older) with a focus on those who may have substance abuse issues. The program provides free HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and Hepatitis C testing, as well as screening for substance abuse and mental health issues.
We also provide services for women:

  • living with HIV or another STI
  • with an HIV positive partner
  • with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Eligible women are referred to receive substance abuse treatment (including detox), mental health services and primary care services. As a part of our mission of promoting essential services and recovery, Women for PASEO offers three group interventions:

  • SISTA
  • TSISTA
  • Seeking Safety

Additionally, the program offers information about free supportive services such as housing assistance, affordable healthcare and skilled job development. We can be contacted at:
