What an unbelievable run this has been! Your response has been amazing! Our midwest premiere by Carmen Rivera, directed by Miranda Gonzalez was a huge success because of YOU! Close to 2100 people saw LA GRINGA! On behalf of everyone at UTC, Mike Oquendo and the cast and crew, we want to say THANK YOU! We couldn’t have done this without you. We want to thank Mike Oquendo for always believing and supporting our work and being by our side every step of the way. Gracias! Miranda Gonzalez you were the perfect captain for this project and you held everyone’s trust. You’ve been a joy to work with. A big thank you to our cast Phil Camacho, Nydia Castillo, Anthony De Jesús, Frankie Diaz, NK Gutiérrez, Maritza Nazario and Sofia Tew. Thank you for gracing our stage with your energy, heart, and talent. I loved watching your beautiful and connected work every time I was at the theater. To our crew: Liza Ann Acosta, Sara Carranza, Antonio Bruno, Karolyn M. Gibson, Caswell James and Andrew Lehmkuhl. Thank you for your hard work and professionalism. You’re all top notch. Here are some production highlights from LA GRINGA: • There were 35 performances total. All were SOLD OUT! • We added a three-week extension. Eleven added performances. All were SOLD OUT! • Three schools bought out our house allowing 210 students to experience LA GRINGA. The schools were Esmeralda Santiago Charter School, Morton Freshman Center along with Morton West and Dr. Pedro Albizu Puerto Rican High School. Thank YOU! • We hosted an amazing Aryeto event and awarded Carmen Rivera a Barrio Legend Award. So much fun! • Our closing benefit performance was a big success. It was the perfect holiday house party with parranda music. Teatro Thursdays at La Havana Cafe and Teatro Sundays Brunch N’ Play at Nellie’s Restaurant were very successful and welcomed 238 guests to our community for dinner/brunch and theater. which netted over $3,000 to the two businesses. What a ride! What a blessing! What a gift! From the bottom of our urban hearts, we thank you, Chicago!
