Two El Rescate programs will participate in the Digital Storage Immersion pilot program sponsored by the Chicago Youth Storage Initiative (CYSI). The program provides youth with quick access and safe storage for personal documents, records and employment applications and simplifies outreach efforts for El Rescate. As part of the program, CYSI provided El Rescate with various tablets and keyboards to assist in meeting the missions of the center’s Transitional Living Program and Basic Center Program. The Transitional Living Program provides identity-affirming housing to homeless LGBTQ youth from 18 to 24 years of age, some being HIV- positive, in addition to support services to assist with the transition to independence. The Basic Center Program expands services that address the immediate needs of Latinos and African American youth, 12 to 18 years of age, living in the Chicago Metropolitan who identify as LGBTQ and have run away or are homeless.
