The 14th Annual Three Kings Day on Paseo Boricua were one of the most successful in Humboldt Park’s community history. Nearly 2,000 community residents, most of them families, participated in a parade down the economic/cultural corridor of the Puerto Rican community – Paseo Boricua at 3 PM. The Three Kings in Paso Fino horses and carriage were at the front while people danced and sang with Puerto Rican flags on top of floats and with two large vejigantes. Participants also chanted “¡Humboldt Park NO SE VENDE!” – voicing a concern of gentrification in our community and its impact on the future celebration of such important cultural events like Three Kings Day. The parade ended at the Humboldt Park Field House where thousands of toys were distributed.
