The Humboldt Park Youth Employment Program (HYEP) and The Innovative Transition to Bridge and Transition Program of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center facilitated a group of 25 community youth and adults to register at the Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) One Stop Enrollment Express held on July 18th. The event provided the opportunity for potential students to meet with academic advisors from the different programs, complete Financial Aid registration, take placement exams and participate in a campus tour. NEIU president Dr. Gloria Gibson provided greetings; Proyecto Pa’Lante Director Angelica Rivera met with the students and Lamont Vaughn, Director of Admissions ensured all were taken care of. The event was informative and provided each participant with an understanding of the registration and enrollment process. This marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship between the Puerto Rican Cultural Center Programs and NEIU to provide Humboldt Park residents and high school students with a career pathway that will offer support services from both the community and the University.
